GAMMA OMICRON-MEETINGS

We have a business meeting on the 2nd Wednesday of every month at 7:00 p.m. We have an Educational of some type at the beginning of each meeting. The meetings last no more than 1- 1.5 hours and then we eat dessert and socialize.

We also have a social committee that meets and plans the events for the year. Socials range from scavenger hunts, BUNCO for St. Jude's, going to a bb game, movie or play, etc. Some of the socials are women only and some are for families as well.

GAMMA OMICRON-HOPE FOR HEROES

Hope for Heroes: An ESA National Event

As a nationwide challenge to 12,000 Epsilon Sigma Alpha members, events are to take place November 7-14, 2009 to honor our veterans, present day military personnel and/or military family members. These events can be sending care packages, giving parents a night off, sponsoring a toy drive for military children, writing notes of thanks, etc.

The Gamma Omicron chapter will help serve breakfast at the American Legion to all Veteran's on Wednesday, November 11th. We have also been giving out cards to all of our heroes thanking them for their service to our country. As we give out the cards with information about ESA on them we also buy the soldier a coffee, soda, or lunch.

Please fly your flags this week and joining us in celebrating our military and their families!

GAMMA OMICRON-What are we about?

Epsilon Sigma Alpha is a leadership and service organization bringing good people together to pursue programs that make a positive different-locally, nationally and internationally. Since 1929 ESA members have used their network of more than 1,000 chapters throughout the US and Australia to excel in community, education, service and philanthropy. ESA was established in Kansas in 1930. Kansas has approximately 50 chapters functioning throughout communities in the State of Kansas. These chapters support many local as well as state and international philanthropic projects.

Gamma Omicron is one of 50 Kansas chapters and we are located in Manhattan, KS. We along with all of the other Kansas chapters have donated over 50,000 hours and at least $500,000 to philanthropic projects in our communities as well as to Heartspring in Wichita, KS, Goodwill/Easter Seals of Kansas, and St. Jude's Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, TN.

On an international level we have raised more than $130 million in cash and pledges for St. Judes.

Gamma Omicron's local projects are: Flinthills Breadbasket, Stoneybrook, Second Helping, Crisis Center, Emergency Shelter, Manhattan's Free Clinic, Big Lakes Development and giving out scholarships to our youth.

There is a wealth of opportunities for volunteering, fellowship and fun as a member of Epsilon Sigma Alpha International. I encourage everyone to explore the Kansas ESA website at
http://www.esaks.org/ and contact a chapter in your area, or our State Membership Director.
